In August, we found this beautiful little kitty homeless, trying to survive on the fast-food garbage people threw out of their cars in a supermarket parking lot.
We figured out that Heidi was nursing, and so we tracked her back to the spot where she had stashed her tiny kittens under the shelter of a boulder and some big weeds.
It was just after a big rainstorm, and the poor babies were only 2 or 3 days old. We could tell they were having a hard time. So we quickly scooped up mama and babies and brought them inside and got them settled in a warm nesting box.
Mama cat Heidi was a little nervous at first, but once she realized she was going to be fed and cared for she relaxed. Babies Lottie and Lally recovered from their rough start with a bit of nursing care from us and lots of TLC from their mom.
All 3 kitties are now looking for homes of their own. At 14 weeks, the kittens are now happy, healthy, playful little girls, who chirp and romp around endlessly.
Mama cat Heidi is a quiet, sweet girl who will sit in your lap and purr if you pick her up. She needs a little extra reassurance when approached, probably because she didn’t experience much kindness in her short life until we found her. The vet told us she is about a year old, which means she was really still a kitten when she had her own kittens
We would like to place these kitties in pairs or into homes where there is another young kitty for them to play with. All 3 have been spayed, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped.
